BONUS REVIEW by JOHN SCHAEFER

The whole concept of 50 Girls 50 is reminicent of comic creation from the Golden Age. Two guys in the field (Frank Cho and Doug Murray) are sitting around one day talking comics. One guy has an idea. Second guy elaborates on the idea and suddenly we have a full blown concept. The concept is neat, there are only 50 women on earth that have a 3rd X chromosome which allows them to use an experimental warp drive safely. It is up to these 50 women (hence the title) to search the infinite void for supplies to save an overpopulated earth. Now the only problem is guy number one (Cho) has a jam packed schedule and can't take on another book right now. So what to do, just shelve the project and it becomes one of those what if concepts that you read about on the internet 10 hyears from now? Hell no, you have a contest and the winner gets to be the artist. Enter Axel Medellin (congrats by the way). And right off the bat, we have a story in classic sci-fi form. Hidden agendas, personal secrets hinted at and alien goo that dissolves space suits bit by bit! Oh glory days. Medellin's artwork compliments Cho's concept art although it was nice to see Cho was able to do the 2 epilogue pages and the cover. (Longtime fan of Cho's art!)Books like this tend to get passed by, so I urge you to stop for a minute and check it out.
