The “New Krypton” finale and a “Faces of Evil” issue! The rapidly rising tensions between the people of Kandor and Earth can only lead to expulsion or war! But even as the governments of Earth begin passing anti-Kryptonian laws, Superman's people have plans of their own – beyond anything you can imagine! Writer Geoff Johns and artist Pete Woods (SUPERMAN: NEW KRYPTON SPECIAL #1) wrap up this cosmically important chapter in Superman’s life by introducing a major change to The Man of Steel’s status quo!

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

The ending of the New Krypton story ends ominously, with the typical unresolved loose ends that Superman readers have known for years. If you are expecting the biggest slugfest of your life, as Superman tries to deal with a hundred thousand Kryptonians fluttering around the Earth, this isn’t the comic. Geoff Johns shifts gears instead, with some backstory, some fighting, but the twisty “To be continued sometime, somewhere” ending, which somehow feels right, but feels convenient and lazy, too. And what troubles me the most is the last panel; I don’t give spoilers, but I do ask why DC wants to introduce these characters again? Yes, brand spanking new characters are shown (which I like, as in the first Epilogue), but old ones, thought gone, are rediscovered (which I don’t like; the cover, for instance, bothers me. Didn’t Luther lose a hand because he had Kryptonite too close to it for too many years? Has that all changed because of Final Crisis?) Decent artwork, good storytelling, but a troubling pattern for fans of the storylines that we’ve seen since the first Crisis.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
