Lex Luthor has had an incredibly difficult time of it lately, what with fighting master assassin Deathstroke, avoiding being eaten by Gorilla Grodd, and even meeting Death herself! Now he’s finally back at his office in Metropolis, so he can relax a little bit – oh shoot, Lex, watch out for Vandal Savage and that axe!

In the Jimmy Olsen co-feature, Superman’s pal has to convince a bunch of bloodthirsty aliens that Earth is too boring and staid to host the universe’s biggest (and most destructive) party. But how exactly is he going to do that? (Everyone, put on a bow tie, bow tie's are cool.)

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

As Lex Luthor takes over this magazine, Paul Cornell has done a great job of giving fresh takes on old villains as they try to take something from him. Yes, Lex has thoughts in the usual places, but why these other guys (this month immortal Vandal Savage) keep trying to bring their agendas into his space is a mystery, and is just plain inconvenient. Sure, Lex takes what isn’t his sometimes, but come on, the stuff was just laying around, right? Not to forget, there’s a back-up featuring Our Pal Jimmy Olsen, as he comes up with a plan to stop an alien invasion. Maybe by issue #900 Jimmy’s life will change; after this many issues, he deserves some happiness. Ah, the tribulations of secondary characters…
