If you're unfamiliar, Barbarella started as a European comic strip in 1962. Yep, Europe in the 1960's was apparently wild and way saucy. But wait! There's more! She was also portrayed in a wild and saucy film by Jane Fonda in 1968. It took the Avengers 49 years to get from comic to screen, perhaps because they solve their problems with hitting instead of...saucy.
This debut issue has really solid writing and art. You'll love it if you're in the mood. You might not if you don't feel like it. I'm not going to make you read if you don't want to. Highly recommended for fans of Italian science fiction movies from the seventies, those fond of Fonda, and for anyone hungry for the type of book dynamite does well. Hungry like a wolf, even.
