DC's new flagship title?

Mark Waid and Dan Mora bring back the big colorful superhero book in fine friendly fashion. Waid's return to DC gives them someone who knows Superman quite well, knows how to do the 'boy scout' stories that we always hear THAT people complain about w/out actually hearing those complaints. DC absolutely wants this to be a new reader title. We get introductions for every character, a bit of exposition about who they are, what they're doing, and what they're doing will do to the people they're doing it to. We also get a boisterous Tim Sale-y Robin who doesn't shut up no matter his circumstance. He is therefore instantly appealing, even kidnapped by the Penguin.

"But...I'm an adult! I'm jaded! What in the world could I EVER get out of a comic where Batman has a blue cape?!?"

Well, friend, SHUT UP and let me tell you. For all you bleak brokers out there, you'll find out that all this four color frivolity can co-exist with someone being stabbed thru the heart just fine. Is that dark enough for you for a SUPERMAN book? Jeez, you people...

So...downside? The pages you got in Detective Comics a couple of months ago? You're paying for them twice.

Upside- Just about everything else.

Stop being so sour and buy it already.

REBUTTAL PARAPHRASED REVIEW- Please enjoy the thoughts of Mike Korcek, Dekalb club member and Superman's number one fan.

I've just heard that my glowing review of Batman Superman World's Finest was an inadequate dismissal of the book. Dekalb favorite Mike Korcek did not hold back when he politely told me that the book was undersold for the level of quality. He felt that Mark Waid reinvigorated a fairly stayed comic relationship in just one issue. He also chided me that no mention was made of the 32!!! pages of story and art delivered by a major publisher for just 3.99 for cover A, 4.99 for the cover priced variants. He says the book is an EASY 9, possibly a 10. As the only Kryptonian I know, his words carry some weight, and I thought I'd share them with anyone who might be on the fence about trying an excellent book no matter the number of crackers applied to it between one and ten.
