Hahahahaha haaa. Ha. Ahem. Tick? Tick? Tick? In May of 2016? Is that right? Oh my gawd... 4 years ago Batman mentioned that there are 3 Jokers. 4 years where Alfred died. He's still dead? A Joker died. A Joker was revealed not to have died? A Joker teamed up with Lex Luthor's Injustice League. And then a Joker laughed a lot in Doomsday Clock. Like I think that's all he did? Followed by a Joker starting a Joker war. So maybe this takes place 4 years ago? It looks like DC Rebirth era generation one costumes. Or this takes place in the Watchmen universe? So so so many 9 panel pages it might... Panels filled with little tidbits that I bet might be clues to something that maybe revealed in the next issue. Was my favorite joke Batman crashing the Batmobile into his parents grave? Or when moments later he puts the Batmobile on automatic to not crash into an ambulance. Or this takes place in the Killing Joke universe? It's hard to keep track. Maybe it takes place pre-crisis as it refers to the Joker being active "for decades". Hahaha. Oh wait no there are 3 Jokers. More 9 panel pages of laughing and tiny words. Then the best joke yet, moments after Red Hood misses at point blank range trying to kill a baddie, he gives Batgirl crap for missing at point blank range, trying to stop the death of a baddie. It was funny. I laughed. Poor Poor Jason Fabok. That guy is the best DC artist this side of Gary Frank. Like he might just be Gary Frank in disguise good, but 9 panel pages do not fit this story or his art. He renders the hell out of everything but my old man eyes were constantly distracted by tiny panels. For once a Black Label book needed the extra large format. Hahahahha. Nope. I tired very hard to not let my dislike of Johns writing to taint my feelings but c'mon? Jason saying "I'll be your Robin?" That's such a Johns trope of you read the comics for 30 years but this new fact that was always there, is now revealed to make the plot go! Like any Joker ever would not taunt Jason with that all the time? Or taunt Batman with that? Or any Robin? Please. This is so Geoff Johnsian that it hurts to keep laughing. That's his M.O. Of course there is an entire spectrum of lanterns! Of course the power battery contains the avatar of fear! Of course Hal was possessed! We just never mentioned it before, otherwise you know, we might have saved billions of lives. Of course Jason said I'll do anything. Because that's him in a nutshell, a big talker but never backs it up. Ugh. Go read Killing Joke. Go read Death of the Family. Go read Death in the Family. They are all better Joker stories.
