I liked Valiant's Punk Mambo in 2019. I read some Wrath of the Eternal Warrior when Valiant honored me with an axe in 2015. I liked Sean Chen's covers on Dr. Mirage in the 90s. I loved Garth Ennis' Shadowman in the 90s as well. I like most Cullen Bunn horror books. I needed something to read during lunch.
So of course I read this team-up book event spectacle!
And I can now say that I read it.
It's a very basic by the numbers team-up book. Enter hero #1, they do their catch phrase/power/intro against random badies that lead them to mysterious threat. Enter hero #2, Enter hero #3, and repeat until group "assembles" against newly revealed main big bad. The big bad is Exarch Pane. He looks like a rejected design from DC's Blackest Night but with a BOOK!
CUE SHOCK!
He's too powerful with said book!
Cliffhanger ending!
But wait there's more!
We get the next 3 pages from issue #2 to show us how overmatched our heroes are.
What will happen next? My guess? A few more issues of our heroes learning to work together to finally defeat the bad guy. Probably.
