BRIGHTEST DAY continues, but in ways you can’t possibly expect!
What does BRIGHTEST DAY mean to the DC Universe? Is everything from here on out going to be bright and shiny? No, BRIGHTEST DAY means something else entirely, something we can’t tell you...yet. But we can tell you our heroes will need to rise up more than ever to combat the forces of evil, and a select few will uncover a secret that binds them ALL. It all begins in the specially priced issue #1!

BONUS REVIEW by SHANNA BERRY

Blackest Night seemed such an easy triumph while the conflicts dissolved so rapidly, and if there’s one thing we as readers want it’s CONFLICT! The biggest complaint from me was Hawkgirl’s resurrection as Shiera rather than Kendra, removing the only Hawkgirl who ever wanted to forge her own destiny. And within the pages of Brightest Day zero, we saw a glimpse of the bore-fest ahead with the brooding never-ending worry that one day the two Hawks will lose each other again blah blah blah. I decided to withhold my complaints until I read #1 – and now I’m on board. The honeymoon period might be over for our Hawk couple; new developments are creating quite the mystery for this duo, and its' GREAT! It's also exciting to have a mission for Boston Brand with purpose, he might be one of the most important beings in the universe right now and that’s awesome! Aquaman’s commanding dead sea urchins…confusing but we’ll let it play out. Martian Manhunter’s current mission is to revive Mars – I must say this is a bold approach to a new J'onn J'onzz story, but why did this idea just NOW occur to him? I guess water just NOW appeared on Mars. Huh. This does however feel like a refresher for Geoff Johns, and I think the whole DCU needs this series to move onto some new conflict.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
