Wow…I tip my hat to writer David Liss. In a very p.c. day he decidedly goes right for the racial jugular. There were many points in the issue that I was amazed by some of the dialogue and situations and I asked myself, can they really say this in a comic book published by the company that doesn’t even allow Wolverine a stogie anymore? All considered this is quite the entertaining read albeit a little talky at times. It’s paced well and does a nice job of introducing the new “American Panther” as well as re-introducing the villain Hate-Monger. The art is again competent and neither adds, nor subtracts from the story. Admittedly, I do enjoy the color palette though. The red hues and color mixes really pop off the page. Do yourself a favor this week and pick up a grown-up book that will stimulate your thinking on immigration as well as give you two panthers for the price of one.
