BONUS REVIEW by DOC SCHAEFER

Spoiler Alert! This review contains a plot point. Sorry gang, but this is an absolutely essential spoiler. I have enjoyed the entire run of this title. However, I was brought to tears and ticked off all in the same issue. It was appropriate that the final issue of the series focas more on Paul and his life. I think it was all summed up when (SPOILER ALERT) we learn that Paul's collection is missing one newspaper due to the fact that he refussed to get it on the day he discovered his wife was dying of cancer. That newspaper was the one announcing the death of Sue Digby (Identity Crisis). However, the ending really irked my cookies. It wasn't that it was a bad ending or that I felt cheated but I actually was upset by the final fate of Paul. Maybe it was too real, I'm not sure but even the beautifly drawn back up story featuring the history of the Blue Beetle could not make my annoyance go away. Now, with all that aggrevation built up, you'd expect a terrible review. But you'd be wrong. It is exactly that aggrevation that earns it an eight grahams rating. This book struck a cord with me so deep that I actually got ticked off at one imaginary character and actually teared up at the death of another imaginary character. Cudos, Mr. Wein.
