Dying and the Dead #1 (2015)

What did I just read? Jonathan Hickman weaves another far out tale with multiple layers of tone, conflict, and purpose. This is his biggest endeavor yet, with a scope that keeps expanding, evolving, and mutating. The intimate balloons into the epic with perfectly suited art by Bodenheim.

If you like a meaty, multifaceted, and cinematic read, this book is for you. If you like your reading a bit more focused, you may find this a bit bewildering by the end. Still, this is an interesting read that calls to mind Hickman's East of West by way of Paul Thomas Anderson's film Magnolia.
