I have always been a fan of team up books, Two-in-One, Brace and Bold, etc. Unfortunately, Guardians seems to be a bit of a stretch. And while this issue is visually appealing in a Jim Starlin draws the universe style, it really doesn't jump out and shake me. Maybe some of the blame can be laid at the feet of our team up hosts, the Guardians. The book's rotating cast of hosts provides no continuity, no glue to hold the ongoing together. And with only one or two exceptions most of the guests aren't really anyone you'd not see in a regular series. The Silver Surfer? Wasn't he a Guardian at one point?! Some of the best team up stories were random guests with no real purpose in being there in the first place. Remember when Spidey teamed up with Iron Man only to bring in the Human Torch to save the Avengers. Or when the Thing was flung back into the past to team up with the Liberty Legion only to end up fighting with Doc Savage? This isn't so much an official Marvel Team-Up book but more of a "Random Tales of the Guardians and their friends."
