VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

story MICHAEL ALLRED art & cover MICHAEL ALLRED

"TEENAGE WASTELAND!” The Atomics get their band back together and work to get a spot in a music festival. But they are shocked and surprised to find it's sponsored by immortal "Tweens" from another dimension who are looking to take their favorite band back with them. YIKES!

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

Madman fans get two stories this month, both song-and-dance related, straight with a Beatles-like cover. The first, from writer Jamie Rich and artist Joelle Jones, follows an infatuated fan as she watches every concert by the Atomics, especially keying in on pimply Adam Balm. I enjoy when guest writers and artists take over another creators universe, even if it is only for a few pages, and this first tale swept me away, though I longed for it to end differently. The second story, which is actually the first installment of a longer tale, follows the whole Atomics crew as they try to line up music gigs. Offbeat, strange, with more questions than answers, it’ll be interesting how Aldred finishes this one next issue. Overall, one of the better Madman comics, and I hope to see more like it in the future.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
