Can you fly, Marc?
Our Mr. Spector is in the custody of ...someone. I'd spoil who, but *SPOILER ALERT!* we don't find out. He's being held ...somewhere, but all we know is that it has cold walls. His therapist wears a goalie mask, his guards are basically dressed like members of Cobra, and his God has rejected him in favor of another. He has no hope of escape, no friends, no resources and a Khonshu that does not believe the information that his former vessel is providing.
This may sound boring, but I assure you its not. Brian Wood continues to expand on themes and ideas presented in Warren Ellis' run. The most interesting is the presentation of Khonshu, who really seems worse and worse each time he has something to say. It's all presented with deceptively simple layouts and art from Greg Smallwood and Jordie Bellaire. Simple things like fingertips scanning the texture of a wall, the posture of sleep are wonderful set inside borderless panes. While I'm missing the done-in-one, this is still a book its easy to be excited about.
