Reviews

You know, back in the 1960's Hawkman's book was a great read. He had his own rogues gallery, he had Hawkgirl and he had Nth metal. And although he has had revision after revision after revision thrust upon him, he always was around. Which just goes to show that as a second tier character, the Hawkman had staying power. Blame it on the New 52, blame it on the times we live in, blame it on adamantium but Savage Hawkman's last issue is a spotlight of everything that went wrong with this version of the character. Liquid metal that oozes out of his pours? No Hawkgirl, in fact by the last couple of pages no female companion at all? Battle armor forming from a Phoenix like cocoon?Am I reading a DC book? Seems like I'm reading the Her storyline from the original Fantastic Four comic. And what's worse is that we don't even get a complete ending point. We just get a useless, "I'm with the Justice League of America now." when the first few pages of the book is that of Carter Hall surviving without the Nth metal and not being Hawkman. I guess the silver lining to all this is that there won't be an issue #21.
