VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

(W) Dan DiDio
(A/CA) Kenneth Rocafort

When Sideways leads the Seven Soldiers into the Dark Multiverse to find the missing Manhattan Guardian, the whole trip goes sideways (zing!) when our hero gets separated from the group and becomes lost in this nightmarish realm. And just like any petulant teenager, Sideways won't stop and ask for directions, so now he's trapped in the land of Perrus, ruled by the Dark Beast and populated by weird Superman-esque creatures, like Porcupine Jimmy Olsen.

Reviews

I hate to say this but I might just be too old to enjoy this title. After initially visiting the first two issues, I lost track of the title until someone pointed out to me that the Seven Soldiers were guesting. Unfortunately, it was DC's updated version that I still don't understand and I read all the mini series. The character of Sideways is still reminding me of the early days of young Peter Parker in a modern timeframe. But his powers are still a bit confusing and his teaming up with one of the most abstract groups in DC history is not helping. Plus the fact that he is basicly used as a way to get from point a to point b and then thrown away, is rather rude seeing as this is his title. Also annoying is Zatanna's method of sending Sideways away. The mistress of magic, I grew up with would have known better than to use generic phrases in her spell. And so now I'm left with Sideway stuck in a universe where his powers don't work and is run by weird versions of the Justice League. Really? At least go back to Curt Swan's art on the Red Ant Head Superman. This Dark Nights Metal stuff just isn't for me.
