DC Comics proudly presents the 700th issue of SUPERMAN, a 56-page extravaganza full of tales celebrating the Man of Steel's past, present and future! First up is a story by the man who actually killed Superman, Dan Jurgens! Then, James Robinson brings his epic run on the title to a close with a touching story featuring art by Benard Chang that brings Superman back to Earth after his time on New Krypton. Finally, we preview the exciting new SUPERMAN ongoing creative team as J. Michael Straczynski and Eddy Barrows provide a story that sets the stage for an explosive, all-new direction for The Man of Steel! (Seriously! Wait till you read this!)

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

The gang’s back together again. On the heels of New Kryptonite storyline comes the big anniversary issue, as Superman gets reunited with Lois, The Parasite, and someone who blames him for not being around. Not to mention a Brave and The Bold episode with Robin. It’s a retro comic, emitting a sentimental feel that lacks Huge Slugvests against Big Villians resulting in Dire Consequences. The first two stories, with Lois and Robin, hit the mark, though the last seemed a little lost. And while some of the art was good, some was stilted, but mostly I’m disappointed that Mr. Olsen only got a cameo on the cover…come on, the guy used to have his own comic! Still, for fans of one-and-done stories (count me among them), this comic’s for you.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
