BONUS REVIEW by W. DAL BUSH

Hands up who didn't like X-Men: Deadly Genesis! Yeah, I thought so. That's pretty much everyone, and I even voted twice. So imagine my surprise when this 12-part (yikes!) follow-up by Ed Brubaker turned out to be a blast. Go ahead, imagine it. AND I WAS WEARING PANTS, thank you! But yeah, a fun take on X-Men that's more focused and driven than the generally aimless "something attacks the mansion" plot that everyone else is doing *coughWHEDONcough*. Even though it's a 12-parter, Brubaker pulls the same trick that's made his extended runs on Daredevil and Cap work: each issue has a fairly complete story, plus it's slowly (in some cases VERY slowly) moving the main plot forward, every month. While not the home run that his Daredevil is, this is still a book for Brubaker fans and people who buy anything "X". Which, according to our records, is anyone reading this. Hi!
I give it 8 Grahams out of 10.
