BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS
Mostly, I dislike the “What has gone on before” page; for new readers, I understand the appeal, but sometimes, to me, reviewing the summarized story gives me a headache. So true here, where I needed to read the first sentence three times to understand it (I’m not an X-men guy, so what was M-day?). Still, the story itself worked, progressing logically as Professor X and team work their way to try to find the physical embodiment of the X-Men’s Danger Room (that I understood). For me, as I read through it, I found much of the dialogue stilted, more like a WWF event where the actors know they are on stage. Opposing that self conscious writing, however, were a couple of splash pages of “Danger”. Wow. The layout and color on those pages knocked me over, and I wish I could get them poster-size. Those paid for themselves. Nice read for someone who has gotten his X-men fix via the movies.
