SERIES PREMIERE**GEOFF JOHNS (GEIGER) **and JASON FABOK, the celebrated team behind the smash hitBatman: Three Jokers, reunite for an all-new science fiction series!Hundreds of years from now, the man known as Rook was once a simple farmer who fled the crumbling Earth for a new life on the planet Exodus; a terraformed planet where all of nature, including its imported animal population, was completely controlled by humans called Wardens. But when Exodus’s world engine failed, the Wardens’ power fell into the wrong hands, creating chaos and mass evacuation…for those who could afford it. The rest, like Rook, must scavenge for an escape vessel as the war for control of what’s left of Exodus begins.Don't miss out this new entry in the exciting Ghost Machine rollout—and it's 44 pages of story for only $3.99!

What does Rook: Exodus bring to the table that’s different from its contemporaries (besides a subtitle)? Well for one thing, Rook does not take place in the same universe as Redcoat and Geiger, so the circumstances are considerably different. Don’t worry though, the Earth is still screwed here too, just not in the same way. With that in mind, a corporation decided to build a better planet with experimental technology, that went about as well as you might expect, and now our hero is desperately trying to put together a ship to go literally anywhere else.

While I wasn’t expecting a happy story with a setup like that, it still surprised me what a dark book this is, illustrated to perfection by Jason Fabok. It’s gripping and intense and has me really excited to see more. Once again, very accessible, very good start. If you’re a fan of stuff like Alien, Predator, Warhammer 40k, Interstellar, J.J. Abrams Star Trek, or oddly enough WALL-E, Bionicle, and the Crow (our hero being named Rook is not a coincidence), this is definitely for you.
