James Robinson’s run on SUPERMAN continues as the battle for Metropolis between Superman and the long-vanished Atlas rages on. It's full-scale war, mano a mano, in the streets of the city.

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

James Robinson replaced the writing chores from Busiek, who left this book a couple months back for Trinity. This issue, part two in the story, offers a Ross cover, a slugfest the whole way, and flashbacks about the antagonist, Atlas, drawn in Kirby-style. I loved the Kirby-style art; the “normal” art was gritty, and good, but just not as interesting, to me. Cameos were made by Lois and Jimmy. The issue reminds me of Doomsday, where a villain appears and takes a whole issue to battle Superman, but this has a more cynical, conspiratorial aspect . I was worried when Busiek left, since he had a great run, but Robinson is off to a great start.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
